When Becky and Alex travelled from the United States to Lisbon for a few days to attend their wedding tastings and makeup trial for their destination wedding in Portugal, we took the opportunity to schedule their engagement session in Lisbon before the wedding day. It was the perfect moment; relaxed, without pressure, and a beautiful way for us to get to know each other before the wedding in the summer.
We chose the Vandelli Botanical Garden for their engagement session in Lisbon, one of the most beautiful and quiet gardens in Lisbon. This location has a very romantic and timeless atmosphere, perfect for couples who want natural, elegant and relaxed engagement photos in Lisbon.
Becky is incredibly spontaneous and full of energy, while Alex is a bit more shy, which created a beautiful balance during the session. Engagement sessions are not just about the photos, they are about understanding the couple’s dynamic, how they interact, how they laugh together, and how they naturally connect with each other. This helps me photograph them in a much more genuine and meaningful way on their wedding day.
After spending some time walking through the garden, we continued the session near Palácio da Ajuda, which matched perfectly with the elegant and classic mood of the Vandelli Botanical Garden. I always like to plan engagement sessions with different backgrounds and moments so the experience feels relaxed and natural, never rushed.
For me, engagement sessions are also about connection. It’s a moment where we talk, walk, laugh and share stories. I always love hearing about my couples’ story, their families and the life they are building together. By the time the wedding day arrives, it already feels like we know each other and that makes everything more natural, relaxed and real.
